Crisis Stabilization Unit provides emergency and acute care services for people experiencing a mental health crisis.  The Unit’s primary function is the evaluation, diagnosis and stabilization of mental illness symptoms. This is accomplished by providing a protective environment, medication, counseling and discharge planning with the client’s family and social support system. 

 

Services are available to all adult residents of Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties. Clients are accepted in compliance with State of Florida and Department of Children and Families’ regulations. 

 

Crisis Stabilization Unit is a 30 bed adult unit located at 4500 W. Midway Road in Fort Pierce and it is open 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week.  For additional information call (772) 468-5600.    

 

Detoxification Unit (Detox) is a medical, non-hospital service for adults who are acutely disabled from substance abuse. Services are available to all adult residents of Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties.

 

The Detox Unit provides necessary medication to prevent withdrawal symptoms.  It also provides medical and psychosocial evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to establish motivation for continued sobriety.  The 20 bed facility is located at 4500 W. Midway Road in Fort Pierce

Emergency Screening Services are available to all adult residents of Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties. Services include diagnostic evaluations for mental illness, serious emotional disturbances, and chemical dependency. If a more extensive evaluation is required, individuals may be admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit or Detoxification Unit either voluntarily or by legal order.  Referrals to other services are made when necessary.

Family Emergency Treatment Center (FETC) provides crisis mental health services, assessment, and referral to other support services. Services include diagnostic evaluations relative to mental illness, serious emotional disturbances and chemical dependency for children and adults. 

 

Services also include temporary mental health services to help facilitate diversion from Detention Center or Crisis Stabilization Units. FETC is located at 2806 S. US 1, Suite C 5, in Fort Pierce.

Mobile Crisis Response Team provides immediate on-site assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, linkage and referral for individuals who are experiencing crisis.  Services are available for residents in Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie County. Services are accessed by referral from law enforcement officials, emergency room staff, or school officials. 

Services also include follow-up as needed to promote crisis resolution, evaluation and arrangement for inpatient hospitalization if necessary. Mobile Crisis services are provided by trained mental health professionals in an effort to provide safe alternatives to involuntary admissions to a treatment facility.
