New Horizons Hosts Successful Mental Health Fair

Press Release Date:  July 11

Phyllis Karvetsky and Denise Lynch had the most popular booth at New Horizons Mental Health Fair.  The dynamic duo from Healing Hands offered complimentary neck and shoulder massages and shared the latest relaxation techniques with attendees. Throughout the afternoon, there was a steady stream of satisfied customers.  “They have magical hands,” said one stress-free client.

More than 100 people attended the recent event at the Kurtell Medical Center in Vero Beach.  The fair was open to the public and offered information on “where to turn” for a variety of mental health and social services. More than a dozen organizations were on hand to answer questions regarding Medicare and Medicaid, accessing public transportation, and housing issues.

Organizations participating in the Mental Health Fair included:  ACCESS Florida, Amedisys Home Health Care, Brevard Achievement Center, Council on Aging, Florida Local Advocacy, Gulfstream Goodwill Industries, Healing Hands, Homeless Family Center, Mental Health Association, Millers Health Mart, and National Association of Mental Illness.

“We were very pleased with the turn out for New Horizons first Mental Health Fair,” said Angela Guzenski, Recovery Support Services Manager.  “It was a wonderful event and we are already planning for next year.”
