New Horizons Receives “Challenge” Grant from John’s Island Foundation
…and needs your help!
Release Date: June, 2009
The John’s Island Foundation has awarded a $25,000 challenge grant to New Horizons for its “4 Our Kids” Campaign to build the 20-bed Children’s Crisis Center. The Foundation raises funds from the John’s Island community for the purpose of making capital grants to Indian River County agencies.
This grant is contingent upon New Horizons raising an additional $25,000 from the community and needs your help!
Please consider becoming part of this challenge with a gift to New Horizons to help them achieve their goal and, in turn, raise $50,000 for the kids of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee.
The 2004 hurricanes devastated the facility that served children in our community who desperately needed these services. Currently, the four county area served by New Horizons has only three beds available for our children in crisis and they are in Vero Beach. This is unacceptable as last year alone, 792 kids were admitted to a crisis unit. With families traveling from 60 to 100 miles or more to the nearest crisis treatment center, a traumatic situation was made even more untenable.
