Sheriff’s Cars Find New Life at New Horizons

Press Release Date:  July 11

Thanks to the St Lucie County Sheriff’s Department, New Horizons is the proud owner of two Ford Crown Victoria’s. While the unmarked white sedans have accumulated too many miles for continued law enforcement duty, they are perfect for transporting New Horizons clients and patients to local appointments.

“The timing was perfect,” said Linda Wakefield, facilities manager. “One of our cars with over 200,000 miles died yesterday!”

Chief Deputy Garry Wilson, a board member of New Horizons, facilitated the donation.

“The Sheriff’s Department was pleased that we could help fill this need for New Horizons,” said Wilson. “The retired sedans had racked up more than 100,000 miles, but were still in good condition for local travel,” he said.
