Home Depot Gives New Horizons a Fresh Look

Press Release September 15

The Ft. Pierce Outpatient Center of New Horizons has been in disarray since twin hurricanes Frances and Jeanne damaged the center in 2004.  While structurally sound, staff and clients have worked in dismal surroundings for the past three years.  Water stained ceilings, peeling wallpaper and bare concrete floors were the norm.

During the summer, New Horizons worked with volunteers and a meager budget to refurbish the interior.  Now, visitors enter a cheerful center that has been brightened with fresh paint, tile and carpeting.  While the interior sported a bright new look, the exterior remained dreary.

New Horizons contacted the Home Depot in Jensen Beach and requested their help.  “We are happy to help the community, especially in times of need,” said Chris Serra, store manager. “Giving back is one of Home Depot’s core values.”

“Home Depot came to our rescue, “said Joanne Knight, New Horizons Director of Human Resources.

“They made a generous donation of 25 gallons of Behr paint for the exterior,” she said.  “Now, the outside of the building will have a fresh coat of paint and the refurbishing will be complete.”

“Thanks to the generosity of Ron Lemond, District Representative of Behr Paint, we were able to make this large donation,” said Tara Dickey, Home Depot Human Resource Manager.  “He stepped up to the plate to help New Horizons with this worthy project,” she said.
